Ants

  1. If you have ants and common home remedies are just not cutting it then it’s time to call a professional. At Pest Arrest, our ant treatments are safe for pets, plants, and people, and are guaranteed for 45 days. This means that in the unlikely event that the ants do come back, we will too, and at no cost to you. We provide professional ant treatment and extermination to the Denver Metro area. Our treatments are eco-friendly and safe around pets and people.
  2. At Pest Arrest, no ant species is spared. From thief and pharoah ants, to odorous, sugar, carpenter ants, and everything in between, Pest Arrest is here to help. Call us today to schedule a service or estimate, or just fill out our online form.
  1. Pavement ant. Probably the most common ant in structures, the pavement ant, is so named because it excavates an underground nest and pushes the soil into conical mounds along rocks, concrete slabs, sidewalks and driveways. Nests also can be found in logs, mulch, wall and floor voids, and insulation. Pavement ants are dark brown-black and about 1/6-inch long. They forage 30 feet or more from their nest in search of a variety of foods, including grease and oils, seeds, sweets and honeydew. They are often seen indoors after heavy rain drenches their underground territories.
  2. Odorous house ant. This 1/8-inch long, brownish-black ant can be confused with the pavement ant, until the odorous house ant is crushed, releasing an odor like rotten coconut. In recent years it has become an increasingly common household invader. Nests are found under rocks, boards and other debris, and in floor and wall voids. These ants will move indoors during rains and in the fall. They feed on sweets, honeydew, plant and fruit juices, meat and dairy products
  3. Carpenter ant. Most ant species are not immediately harmful to your home, with the exception of Carpenter ants. Carpenter ants are considered a wood-destroying insect, and can cause significant damage to your home if they are not stopped immediately. These pests dig through and nest in the wood inside your home and can eventually weaken the structure, in addition to any cosmetic damage they cause. Indoor nests are usually “satellite” nests connected to the colony’s main nest outdoors. Satellite nests are often established in wood where moisture problems exist (e.g., around leaking pipes, inadequately sealed window frames and roof leaks). To identify a carpenter ant infestation, look for big black ants and piles of “sawdust” near any wood in and around your home. Carpenter ants are also more resilient than most other ant species, and are immune to most home reme.
  4. +dies.
  5. Pharaoh ant. Another resilient ant species that can survive most remedies is the Pharaoh ant. This tiny (1/12-inch) ant is yellow to reddish-brown. Pharaoh ants nest in voids in floors, walls and ceilings. They often infest large buildings. In hospitals, these ants pose a health risk because they can carry infectious bacteria from the warm, moist areas they inhabit, to intravenous fluids, blood and wounds. These ants are problematic for pest management, as the colonies of this ant do not spread by swarming, but instead by “budding,” breaking apart and establishing sub-colonies in new locations. This process can be triggered when the colony is stressed by the application of repellent liquid or dust pesticides. Colonies can be very large, some containing more than 100,000 ants. Though not as common as the other ant species, these and carpenter ants typically require professional service to effectively control and eliminate.
  1. Though ant problems can be resolved with DIY methods such as ant bait and over-the-counter sprays, these methods typically do not work, and rarely provide a long-lasting solution. The products available to homeowners usually leave residue and odors, and can in fact be more toxic than what is available to professionals, due in part to the use of petroleum distillates. At Pest Arrest, the majority of the treatments we apply are EPA certified low-risk, with the active ingredients often used in flea treatments for pets. All of our technicians are trained in Integrated Pest Management, and we utilize the safest eco-friendly pest control products available.
  2. After an initial assessment, our licensed technician will explain the treatment process and what results to expect. The treatment will start working as soon as it’s applied and could take 2 weeks to completely eliminate ant activity; the treatment will keep killing any new ones for up to three months. The products we use are known in the industry as non repellent micro-encapsulated residual treatments. This means that our treatments usually leave no visible residue and cannot even be detected by the ants. A thin invisible layer of microscopic capsules adheres to the surface on which the treatment was applied, and the ants continue to go about their business. Unbeknownst to them the treatment spreads like a virus, and wipes out the entire colony. The residual takes care of any stragglers. For continued peace of mind we recommend the ARREST™ System Quarterly Service, which protects against most common pests, including all species of ants.

Spiders

  1. If you are dealing with spider activity in your home and home remedies are not getting the job done, it’s time to call a professional. There are thousands of species of spiders but luckily our Spider Treatment doesn’t discriminate. Our treatments will start working as soon as it’s supplied and will work against all types of spiders including black widows, brown recluse and wolf spiders.
  2. At Pest Arrest our Spider Treatments are guaranteed for 45 days from the date of application. In the unlikely event that spider activity comes back, we will too, at no additional cost under warranty. We provide professional spider extermination services to the Denver Metro area. Our treatments are safe around pets and kids too! Call Pest Arrest today!
  1. Wolf Spiders. Wolf spiders are relatively common in Colorado, and we tend to get many calls from clients in particular about this species of spider due mainly to their size and the fact that they are the only species of spider that can carry their babies on their back. Adult wolf spiders can get quite large. They are typically solitary and generally do not pose a serious threat to humans.
  2. Black Widows. Black Widow spiders are most well known for being easily identifiable with a red hourglass on their abdomen and for being venomous to humans. Black widows are somewhat common in Colorado but they tend to thrive more in cooler and darker areas such as crawlspaces rather than preferring to go into the living areas of homes.
  3. Woodlouse Spider. Also known as roly-poly hunters, Woodlouse spiders  are generally more active at night and usually feed off pillbugs and other insects. They are also known for their large fangs and can be reddish in color. They are generally not aggressive towards humans and their venom is not known to cause medical issues.
  1. Spider activity within and around your home can be very difficult to get rid of using DIY methods. This is because spiders do not absorb product through their bodies the same way that humans absorb things through the skin. Spider’s legs are essentially hollow tubes that utilize internal pressure to be able to move. This is why when a spider dies, they tend to curl up because there is no longer any pressure to keep the legs extended. Furthermore, the products available to homeowners usually leave residue and odor, and can in fact be more toxic than what is available to professionals, due in part to the use of petroleum distillates.
The treatment will start working as soon as it’s applied and could take 2 weeks to eliminate spider activity; the treatment will keep killing any new ones for up to three months. The treatment typically includes an exterior perimeter application and an interior application focused on areas where activity was seen and on cracks and crevices. For continued peace of mind we recommend the ARREST™ System Quarterly Service, which protects against most common pests, including spiders.

Mice

  1. Mice are a year-round pest in Colorado. Many people will attempt to DIY a mouse issue and many homeowners will be unsuccessful. By the time a homeowner sees a mouse in their house, it is likely that the mouse infestation has already progressed to the point where DIY trapping or baiting will not successfully eliminate the population. Most DIY solutions homeowners use are simple snap traps. These snap traps are dangerous in homes as kids or pets can accidentally set them off. Furthermore, DIY baiting solutions are usually ineffective due to their relatively low percentage of active ingredient combined with improper placement.
  2. Most structures that we end up treating have mouse populations over 100 mice. This means that DIY trapping and baiting will almost never fully eliminate the infestation, causing a quick return in the infestation. If you see a mouse in your home, the best thing you can do is call a professional exterminator like Pest Arrest immediately.
  1. At Pest Arrest, we use a baiting technique to exterminate mice activity from within and around your home. These stations have the highest tamper-proof rating from the manufacturer to ensure the treatment is completely safe for your pets and/or kids. We are able to quickly and efficiently exterminate mouse infestations within two weeks from when the treatment is started.
  2. We will also come back after two weeks and complete a follow up service. At the follow-up, your technician will re-bait all stations and we even offer complimentary exclusion where we will seal off any potential entry and/or exit points around your home with steel wool to assist in long-term prevention. Our rodent treatments come standard with a three month warranty so you can have the peace of mind knowing that your home is protected for months after the infestation is eliminated.
  3. Ask about our long-term maintenance program for rodent prevention, also known as the ARREST System Rodent Service.

Rats

  1. Rats are very common in Colorado and around the Denver Metro area. Unlike their mouse counterparts, rats are extremely intelligent creatures that are keenly aware of their surroundings. Rats can be extremely destructive, chewing and destroying things such as electrical wiring and other things in your home. In addition to that, they can be very loud and disruptive, especially if they do get inside your home.
  2. Rats are extremely difficult for most people to get rid of. Over the counter solutions purchased at your local hardware store will have little to no success in eliminating rat populations. If you believe you have a rat infestation, it’s imperative that you call a professional pest control company like Pest Arrest, so we can quickly control and exterminate the infestation before it gets worse.
